Babcock State Park located in Clifftop West Virginia is one of my favorite state parks to visit.  The Glade Creek Grist Mill is the highlight of Babcock.  The Mill is a fully functional replica of Cooper’s Mill. The Grist Mill is one of the most photographed locations in West Virginia.  On a hot summer day you can sit on the waters edge and picnic with the view of the mill.  In autumn people travel from great distances for a shot of the mill with the fall foliage filling the background.

There is more to Babcock State Park then the mill.  The 19 acre Boley Lake provides opportunity for fishing and Boating.  Paddleboats, rowboats and canoes are also available for rent at Boley Lake Marina.

There is more than twenty miles of trails for hiking and biking.  The trails range from short easy walks, to difficult terrain with multiple elevation changes.

Babcock State Park also offers cabin rentals and campgrounds, so you can extend your stay and spend some quality time with nature.

Within a short drive to Hawks Nest State Park, Summersville Lake, and the New River Gorge Bridge Babcock state park is an excellent place to set up a base camp for exploring many nearby attractions.

Make sure to find the swinging bridge across Glade Creek, it is a pleasant walk with a nice payout when you get to the bridge.  Just find Cabin #7 and follow the trail.
